Sustainability

Our goal is to create lasting, positive impact for the shelter and the broader community. Together, we’re making changes that will empower those we serve and protect the world we live in.

The HKWS Sustainability Strategy outlines the Shelter’s goals and initiatives under our five key sustainability pillars:

CLIENTS

The women in our care are at the heart of all we do. We are committed to providing holistic services and practical assistance - empowering women to rebuild their lives through opportunities for personal growth, and the development of life skills, for a future that is self-reliant.

ENVIRONMENT

We’re committed to reducing the environmental impact of our Shelter operations and promoting sustainability to our staff, clients and community. Through these efforts, we aim to create a greener, healthier future for all.

PEOPLE

We recognise that our people - our staff, volunteers and the individuals that we support - are our greatest asset. We are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and feel safe and empowered.

COMMUNITY

Engagement with our community is at the heart of what we do. Without support from our community, our Shelter would not exist. We will continue to build strong connections with the community to ensure that we can continue to provide the services of the Shelter and
increase public awareness about domestic violence.
