Volunteer
HKWS is a volunteer-led organisation. Volunteers are the backbone and strength behind our community. There are many people who make vital volunteer contributions to keep our doors open to women in crisis. Our Board of Directors and Committee Members are all volunteers.

Volunteer in the Spotlight
Jo-Ann Moffat has been a valued volunteer at HKWS since and is on our HKWS Community Engagement Committee. This committee meets regularly and organises the yearly program of HKWS events and stalls which raise awareness and funds.
When she’s not volunteering with us, she works in her business, SOS Removals & Storage. Her business supports HKWS financially through monetary donations, volunteering resources and manpower, providing removal & storage services and sponsoring events.
The two most magical moments as a volunteer for the shelter have been when I had over 40 volunteers assist as road marshalls at the Bobbo Cycle Classic, an event which was organised by four Rotary clubs to raise money for HKWS and other local not for profits. The second was when a perfect stranger walked up to me at the Christmas gift wrapping station I was at and placed a $100 note in a volunteer's hand and walked away. It is these moments that make volunteering for the shelter very special.
